I was born in China, so I know how about Chinese Christmas. Chinese Christmas and Japanese Christmas are similar. Why do I say that? First, in Japan, when Christmas is coming, people are going to hang out with their friends, boyfriend or girlfriend. China also do that, it isn’t get together with their family. Second, in Japanese Christmas, we are going to eat “Christmas fried chicken”, and “Christmas cake”. These are Japanese Christmas food. In China, we are going to eat “Christmas apple”. There are two big different between East Asian Christmas and Western countries’ Christmas.
For European and American, I am sure they can’t understand what are those Christmas food.
About “native” and “foreign” mean in relation to Christmas and New Year in Japan, I think it is just the opposite, because in Japan, Christmas is a day to hang out with friends, boyfriend or girlfriend. In New Year, we will stay together with our family.
I don’t know how to celebrate these holidays, I think I will past it like a normal day.
I think it never to change like Western countries.
