Every year I have Christmas time with my family. But this year, I’m spending with my friends on Christmas. We are planning a kind of party and we would get drink, eat chickens and play games. It’s going to be fun!
Anyway, I am going to write about Japanese Christmas. Japanese Christmas has some different customs with other countries. And I found 4 points that are different especially with American culture.
1. Christmas cake
Actually we order a cake for Christmas every year. All of Japanese children look forward it. They will be wild, and romp around in the room. However American family don’t buy a cake for Christmas. They don’t need it because they consider eating Christmas cake is European culture.
2. Couples
Many Japanese teenagers restlessly prepare for the Christmas date. There are many spots for spending with their lover, they wonder how to choose the place to spend. You are considered that pitiful person if you’d spend Christmas in Japan alone… On the other hand, American couples don’t spend Christmas with lovers. They tend to have time with only their families. So you don’t need to worry about it!!
3. Fried chicken
What do you imagine at first when you hear the “Christmas Dinner”? I imagine fried chicken at first. But American families don’t have the custom to eat fried chicken for Christmas diner. Then, I don’t know where the custom to eat fired chicken for Christmas diner came from.
4. Religion
As you know, many percentage of Americans are Christian, therefore they have the reason for celebrate Christmas. But in Japan, we don’t have to celebrate it exactly unless we are Christian. But we pay money for something to celebrate Christmas, and eat or drink. Christmas has been just kind of festival as the Halloween in Japan.
