Merry Christmas and Happy New Year I want write about what Christmas and New Year in China. Christmas in China China is not the religion country. The Christmas tradition is quite young there. I think the Christmas celebration in China is almost young people. Young people gathered together to play. New Year in China. Chinese call the New Year is the Spring Festival. But the date is different with Japan. It is the first day of the lunar calendar. So every year the date is change. People are busy shopping and cleaning their houses. On New Year’s Eve, every family has a delicious feast. And the dumplings are absolutely not without. Dumplings are the most traditional food in China. Chinese people must make dumplings in this day. Some family put the coin in dumplings. If someone eat the coin, this year will be lucky. And another important thing is firecracker. Have spring festival and lighting firecrackers are both traditional Chinese folk customs. Japan New Year is also good, I real like shrine. Living in Japan, every New Year day, and I usual buy Amulet. But I never eat ice cake? Maybe next year I will try. Because I am Chinese and I living Japan, I can have two New Year day. So I am lucky.

Hello! Reading your topic I thought very interesting, specially when you describe about China. First I didn't know there are differences between Chinese and Japanese Christmas/New Year. Actually I thought Chinese was more stick to religion than Japanese. Even though Japanese celebrate those kind events they don't really have a reason for doing that, I guess. I really like do way you contrast both cultures. You said you have never tried cake in New Year right? So do you always go back to China to celebrate this date? What does your family do?
Thank you, and I hope you have time to answer my questions!

Hello. I am Mio Kawamoto. I read your comment. I learned that Christmas Day is not very important event. And New Year is Spring Festival. I can understand that Chinese people are so busy shopping and cleaning. It is similar to Japanese culture a little. New Year’s Day eat traditional food. I learned that firecracker needs for Spring Festival. It seemed to be very exciting. I want to spend Spring Festival in China. Thank you.

Hi Moe. I think so too that you are so lucky because of you said in your essay’s topic. I didn’t know Chinese New Year ceremony. For example, to call the New Year is the Spring Festival. More importantly, Chinese date is different to Japanese one. Lunar calendar is change every year that I didn’t know. How do you think you are very worry about changing it? In my opinion, I confused in China because of changing it. However I want to experience it. Maybe I think it is same to cross-cultural experience in my life. So I want to go to China in New Years day.
Thanks!!

In Japanese it's call kagamimochi? i forgot. maybe i need try it for next month. Janpan's new year is January 1st. Because the winter vacation is too short, i can't go back to China. so i was with parents in Japan celebrate the new years. but, the Spring vacation is long, and just in time for the Chinese Spring Festival (new year) so sometime i was back to China. To see grandma and grandpa. Whether China's Spring Festival or the Japanese new year, i both like. i can feel the different cultures. it meant a lot to me. thank you!
