Hi everyone I will talk about Christmas culture different between Japan and America. There are big different between both countries. First I’m going to explain about Japanese Christmas culture.
Japanese people like Christmas but we’re not almost Christian.
In japan, it’s popular to eat KFC on Christmas. Because one day a foreigner who lived in japan wanted to eat a turkey on Christmas but turkeys were not sold in japan. So he bought chickens in the KFC. The sales staff who heard this story got hint. Then he began to campaign that eat KFC’s chicken on Christmas and spreading throughout in japan.
It’s common to spend with lovers in the Christmas for the Japanese people. So many companies do many campaigns toward lovers on Christmas. the Christmas is big business event for the Japanese companies. The most of people who don’t have a lover on the Christmas season, they work or spend with their family or alone. “Curibocchi” is common word in japan. It’s means the person who spend Christmas alone.
The American spends Christmas with family. Christmas is holiday so the relative gather on Christmas. They take it easy at home. They don’t party. Just play game and watching movies. Its likes New Year holiday in Japan. A child gets many present for parent, relative and Santa Claus and everyone gets presents. They open presents together on Christmas morning. I wish I had that. When open present, Japanese people don’t tear up the wrapping but American people tear up the wrapping. Because it show “ I am happy” and they sent Christmas cared for family and friend.
Which do you like to Japanese Christmas or American Christmas. I like American Christmas. Because American Christmas can get many presents and American Christmas is holiday!! I don’t have to go to school!!
